BARBER SHOP CHRONICLES: Theatre Play
BRAND:  National Theatre
PLAYWRIGHT: Inua Ellams
PRODUCTION COMPANY: VR City
OUR ROLE: 360° Sound Recording, Editing and Dubbing

Inua Ellams is a UK-based poet, playwright and performer. He was inspired to write the Barber Shop Chronicles by the barber shops near his home in Peckham, which reminded him of his childhood in Nigeria. These barber shops are often filled with men until the early hours of the morning, as this is where they go to open up, socialise and share stories. The Barber Shop Chronicles invites us into the rich lives of these men in Lagos, Johannesburg, Harare, Accra, Kampala and London.

Set in-the-round, this play perfectly lends itself to be recorded as a 360° video, allowing the viewer to be in the centre of the action. At 1.618 Digital we recorded the live sound of this play in 360°.

This dynamic play ran in the National Theatre from the 20th of November 2017 until the 9th of January 2018.
